A. Career Goal
As a fashion design student, my career goal is to be a professional fashion designer and create my fashion brand. When I was young, I wish that I can have my own brand to sell my design. Since I like styling, drawing and making crafts, these are the skills which fashion design need. Therefore, I think that fashion design may be a suitable career for me. Nowadays, being a designer needs much expertise to improve competitiveness like different design software, filming, clip etc. Under this circumstance, I bought a camera to start photographing and filming. Also, I learn how to use Final Cut Pro to clip videos. As I train my skills, I can have more competitiveness than others. For my fashion design ability, I also join different competitions to cumulative my experience. Last year, I join the fur competition and CLO competition. I haven't used fur to make my design, but through this competition, I know more about fur material characteristics and the techno that can use in fur.
B. Performing as Reflective Lifelong Learner
I had an internship that let me know more about fashion production chains. A fashion company has delicacy management, division of labour, and cooperation to produce the costumes. Which starts with designing the costumes according to the client's requirements and fashion trends. After that, search the suitable yarns to produce the costume samples to adjust and meet the following size and details. After proto, fit, pre-production and shipment samples, the costumes can finally send to have quality tests. If there are no problems, the company can produce the costumes for clients to sell.
I know more about the designs and characteristics of yarns and textiles. By counting the costume’s sample stock, counting yarn stock and tidying the knit down, I can see many past knitwear designs, yarns and textiles which can be an eye-opener. There are many things I haven't viewed before. For example, special costume patterns and designs, the different yarns made by using different materials and many advanced knitting textiles. There is an archive where I can learn many on it. Under this circumstance, It enhances my knitwear design knowledge and creativity to create my own designs and textiles. These experiences can let me do better in the following fashion design artworks.
C. Self-directed lifelong learner
I like watching movies, museums and exhibitions. When I watch a new movie or artwork, I will try to stand with the creator to understand the deep meaning. As a result, I can learn from them how to present a work. After watching works, I will have many different new ideas. This can help me to design new things which are very important in the design industry. These hobbies can help me open my mind. I will try my best to visit the new exhibition in Hong Kong when I was free. I hope that I can visit more artworks and learn from them.
